A local man approached me as I sat alone by the ocean. When he learned I was alone, he invited me to spend his birthday with him. We explored hidden markets, shared meals, and found beauty in silent moments watching the waves. His kindness reshaped my journey.

I usually eat at home, and a variety of foods isn't something I'm used to. I stick to my traditional foods. If I try other foods outside I might like/dislike it. This year, I had the agency to try things out and bring a variety of foods to cook at home.

I never used to engage in holidays out of home. This was my first initiation to celebrate Christmas with my people. I also spent the whole night in the church. I am taking ownership of my own religious journey and looking forward to more occasions.
